What you are good at is creating things, not building businesses. You know it’s possible, because many others have done it. So where do you begin?

You can get help from someone who’s done this before, who’s come from the world of lab/university to successfully commercialize software. All you need is someone who’s been there, to show you what to do, to guide you but not direct you – so you can reach your goals. You want someone who will be realistic about your goals but also positive and encouraging as you try new things.

The more serious you are about growing your business, the more questions you’ll have… and the more important (even urgent) those questions will be. Asking a question (and getting a reply) on this blog won’t always be enough (or be fast enough).
At some point (maybe now) you’ll want and/or need to have a real conversation with me… so you can provide more background about your past and current situation, tell me about your goals, and get answers to lots of questions in a short period of time.

3. Apply for consulting with me.
This is the right option for creators and inventors who don’t want to leave anything to chance. Avoid the painful uncertainty and costly mistakes that come with trying to commercialize or to create a business on your own. You’ll get the results you want… because I won’t take you on as a client unless I believe you can succeed with your commercialization project. That’s why I don’t accept everyone – you have to apply.
Consulting will help you see the things that you can’t see alone, and overcome the things you can see (but aren’t sure how to fix). I’ll show you shortcuts and show you how to position yourself and your business for success. I’ll give you all my templates, spreadsheets, and systems (and show you how to make them work for you). I’ll hold you accountable (if that’s something you need) and help you when you’re feeling stuck (or just feeling like things are moving too slowly). You’ll save time, headaches, and money (I’ll warn you about the latest “marketing opportunities” that are scams or a waste of time).
Since this is anything but a one-size-fits-all program, exactly how we work together will be driven by your needs. We’ll spend significant time together face-to-face, by phone, and by email. This is absolutely not a one-size-fits-all-program, but a completely customized relationship that’s tailored to your unique wants and needs. You can move as fast (or slow) as you want, so that our work together fits into your life and business.
Consulting requires a significant investment on both of our parts. I take only a few consulting clients at a time, so that I can focus fully on what we are doing together. I take only clients who I think have a great chance at success (which means, yes, that I may turn you away or suggest that you are not quite ready for this step). I don’t want to waste either your time or your money, and I’ll never lead you down a garden path. I understand that you have only one chance at this, and that you want (perhaps need) to get it right.
If you and I do decide to work together, I work with you to structure our relationship so that we both win. I never work for free, but I often make an investment in your venture with my time (in return, I get a small stake in it). Think of this as the mutual investment that it is. There is cash involved, and there is time involved.
